We help entrepreneurs build the businesses they always meant to build, and we do it as a real firm, with a real bench, real values, and a real commitment to the communities we serve.

Focus Efforts was founded on a straightforward conviction: that the entrepreneurs building Central Florida’s physical infrastructure, its plumbers, roofers, restoration specialists, contractors, deserved the same caliber of strategic business advisory that Fortune 500 firms took for granted.
Property services owners were building the homes, the offices, the retail spaces, and the industrial capacity that every other business ran on. And yet the owners themselves were getting almost none of the strategic support they needed to build their own enterprises. They had lenders. They had accountants. They had lawyers. What they didn’t have was a real strategic partner who understood their world.
The people who build for everyone else deserve someone helping them build for themselves.
That gap became the founding thesis. Since 1993, Focus Efforts has walked alongside more than 4,500 property services entrepreneurs across every stage of the business lifecycle, from the two-truck plumber trying to break into insurance program work to the national manufacturer building a certified installer network. Same firm. Same methodology. Same personal commitment to every owner.
The firm grew, the bench deepened, the practice areas expanded. What stayed constant was the founding principle: we serve the owners who serve everyone else. That is who we are. That is why we do what we do.

With over 30 years of experience helping entrepreneurs build thriving companies from the ground up and turn around underperforming operations, he continues to support aspiring entrepreneurs in launching new ideas and startups.
He provides tailored strategies, not off-the-shelf solutions, using a Define, Design, Deploy approach to craft customized game plans aligned with each client’s unique needs and objectives. This diverse experience allows Jim to speak on a wide range of inspirational and educational topics.

Jim has been a minister for several decades and a believer in Jesus since 1988. Happily married to Nicole, he enjoys time with his children and grandchildren when he’s not counseling clients or speaking publicly. Together with the family, they rescue cats, most of whom now have loving forever homes.

Co-Administrator & Community DirectorNicole co-administers Focus Efforts and directs the purpose-driven work the firm funds across the community. She runs Graceful Purrs Cat Rescue with the family, coordinates the firm’s outreach into prisons, jails, and juvenile centers, and keeps the firm anchored to the family and community principles that have defined Focus Efforts from the beginning.
Jim and Nicole run a firm that treats every client relationship the way they treat their own family: with honesty, longevity, and a genuine investment in the outcome.

Kauffman FastTrac® Teaching
We teach the Kauffman FastTrac entrepreneurship curriculum in partnership with Chambers of Commerce, Economic Development offices, and universities across Central Florida.
Returning Citizens Programs
We run work-camp and reentry entrepreneurship programs, equipping returning citizens with the practical skills and mindset to build sustainable businesses after release.
Prison & Juvenile Chaplaincy
Jim carries inspirational messages into prisons, jails, and juvenile detention centers. Corporate chaplaincy for teams that need someone to walk alongside their people.
Bible Study with the Homeless
Weekly bible studies with our community’s homeless population, meeting people where they are and offering both spiritual support and practical resources.
Graceful Purrs Cat Rescue
Nicole and the family run Graceful Purrs Cat Rescue, rescuing, socializing, and placing cats in loving homes. The family’s ongoing labor of love.

Jim has authored more than a dozen books on business strategy and leadership. Royalties fund ongoing community work and content is freely available to entrepreneurs.
